EPIC
Our
premier capped photopolymer plate, EPIC was
designed to meet the special needs of high
resolution process color printing and has
proven its value over and over in just
about every flexo printing application.
The patented cap technology on all Epic plates
allows printers to get high solid ink densities
and print fine details at the same time. EPIC’s
exceptional exposure latitude also makes
platemaking easy and eliminates the need
for masking. Epic is well-suited for
high quality printing on labels, film,
preprint liner, and lined corrugated
when litho quality graphics are required,
and is fully compatible with solvent-,
UV-, and water-based inks.
EPIC NXT
EPIC NXT is our next generation premier capped photopolymer plate designed to meet the requirements
of high-resolution process color printing. EPIC NXT not only has print quality that rivals digital plates, it has the same wide exposure latitude
that EPIC users expect. The new, improved printing surface is designed to take advantage of the latest technology in anilox rolls and provide
even better ink transfer for smooth, bold solids, crisp highlights, and smooth transitions. EPIC NXT's
proprietary print surface and improved physical properties not only provide excellent graphic reproduction, but also improved wear and exceptional resistance to dot gain on press.

Liquid Photopolymer Products
MacDermid Printing Solutions’ broad line
of liquid photopolymer products offers
an unbeatable combination of exceptional
value and quality to the flexographic printer.
Products for specific industries are described
below:
Corrugated Post Print
Liquid photopolymer printing plates have
been the standard in the corrugated printing
market since 1975. Products are available
in hardnesses of 25, 32 and 35 Shore A.
Unique plate technology for corrugated
applications features heat, humidity and
UV resistance, outstanding printability,
and clean running on press. Products for
post print corrugated printing include: LTL, LTE,
25-2, 25R-2, and 32R,.
Wide Web Water-Based Ink Printing
Including products for the pre-print linerboard,
multiwall bag, folding carton and paper
cup printing markets, MacDermid products
provide base and cap resins for every level
of printing quality needed. With the introduction
of the RBI and HIT products, even greater
imaging and printing capability are now
available. Other products available for
these applications include F240 and F240R.
Product selection is based on plate thickness
required and printing application.
Book and Directory Printing
D50 and D70 products are used to print
paperback books, envelopes, business forms,
and other letterpress type applications.
The product selected for use will depend
on plate thickness and hardness desired.
These products can be combined with a cap
resin to provide even finer imaging and
printing capability.
Molding Products
Used as a substitute for magnesium in the
rubber plate making process, the M155 thin
plate molding product has a hardness of
55 Shore D, and is used to make molding
plates ranging from 0.067-0.125" in thickness.
Hand Stamp/Marking Device
There are MacDermid photopolymers available
for the hand stamp, molding, and marking
device markets. F5000 and TF035 are both
used to make handstamps, while the MD095
is used to make molds for rubber plates.
Please ask your MacDermid representative
for recommendations.
Cap Resins
FC55HR is the primary resin used in combination
with most MacDermid liquid photopolymer
base resins to increase the overall tone
range and print capability of a printing
plate. Capping technology, unique to liquid
photopolymer systems, involves the processing
of a harder cap resin cast over a softer
base resin. The physical properties of
the cap resin create a print surface in
the final plate with near vertical side
walls that minimizes dot gain caused by
press impression. Under impression, the
harder cap resin recedes into the softer
base rather than distorting, leaving a
clean, sharp image.
